The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug

OMG!!!! I went to go see The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug on Friday, the day it came out, and it was AMAZING!!!! I absolutely loved it. I'm not sure they could be as good as Lord of the Rings, but I think the movies are getting better as they go. The second is definetly better than the first one, so if you didn't like the first one, don't worry, this one is WAY better!

Dwarf cheat sheet

I found this amazing dwarf cheat sheet for The Hobbit on Pinterest. And though I have memorized them all, I printed one out for those who will be watching the movie, especially for the first time, so they won't be so confused...

Harry Potter wands

I found the coolest idea to make Harry Potter wands using some sort of wooden skewer, hot glue, and brown paint on Pinterest.
Here's the original instructions:
Then, here's the wand I made. It is a lot less complex than in the instructions, since it was my first one, but I tried to make it look like Harry Potter's wand.

You should give it a try!

The Hobbit

Just spent my 2 1/2 hour flight deciphering the cover of The Hobbit, which I was reading on the plane. It actually kept me quite occupied, and I now know how to write in that "language". :)
Here's a picture of the cover of my version if you want to give it a try:

Minecraft Update!

Yay! Just updated Minecraft to the 1.6.1 version with horses, carpet, and different colored clay! Having horses is so much fun, but my problem is that when I mount them, I have no control over them, even if I am holding a carrot on a stick. They will also not let me feed them anything or put a saddle on them, I hope this is just a bug and they will fix it soon! If you are having trouble installing the update (like I was) here's a simple solution:
1. Uninstall Minecraft. Don't worry, your worlds will be safe, just as long as you were logged in the last time you played.
2. Reinstall Minecraft. The update should automatically download with Minecraft.
It's as easy as that!

P.S. Thanks to my sister, who gave my niece and I helpful advice on how to install the update!

Origami

I have been doing a lot of Origami lately, the art of folding paper. My favorite creation is my dragon. It reminds me of a dragon from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Merlin, Eragon, or Game of Thrones. Since the directions were very vague, and confusing, I had to come up with a way to make the wings, head, neck, and tail. My niece has also been making Origami bow ties, because

Minecraft treats

My niece and nephew have just arrived, and we quickly got to work making these cute creeper rice krispie treats for my sister's birthday. I originally found the idea for these from Rosanna Pansino on "Nerdy Nummies"
If you want to see the original video, you can watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbztpv-yNOM
I also have the link to her complete channel on the right side of my home page.
P.S. The creeper face looks a bit smushed since it was in put in a tupperware.

Crafts

Hello everyone! Lately I have been making cute little nerdy toys for my niece and nephew, who are going to be visiting soon. I made a Minecraft torch and grass block for my 5 year-old nephew, who loves Minecraft. I also made a mini TARDIS for my 14 year-old niece, who like me, loves Doctor Who! I found these paper cut-outs on Google images, printed them out, cut them out, folded on the lines,  followed directions, and reinforced them with cardboard.  If you want to see the cutouts, just click on the links below:
